FIRST SATURDAYS DEVOTION TO MARY, HOLY PROMISES OF THE ROSARY,
AND PRAYER: THE MOST HOLY ROSARY

EWTN Article: What Is The First Saturday Devotion And What Is The Promise Associated With It? Part of the Fátima message is that God is asking us to make reparation for the sins of the world. The Angel in 1916 taught the children prayers of reparation and asked them to do penance. The Blessed Virgin also called for prayers and acts of reparation, and, on July 13, 1917, she promised that she would return to request a special kind of reparation. She did this in 1929, appearing to Lucia, now a novice in a Spanish community.
“Look, my daughter, at my Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”
This is a request that is ongoing, and one as needed today, if not more so, than in 1929. It is also one within the reach of every Catholic. And in fulfilling it, we please Our Lord, who like any son is pleased by others coming to the defense of his mother’s honor.
THE FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION
For five consecutive first Saturdays of the month and with the intention of making reparation for the offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we are asked to:
1 – Go to Confession (may be 8 days before or after, if you are in a state of grace)
2 – Receive Holy Communion (can be received at a Saturday evening anticipatory Mass)
3 – Pray five decades of the Rosary
4 – Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes while meditating on one or more of the mysteries of the Rosary.
Our Lord told Sister Lucia that there are five ways that people offend and blaspheme against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
1 – Offenses against Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception – by denial or ridicule
2 – Offenses against Our Lady’s Perpetual Virginity
3 – Offenses against Our Lady’s Divine Maternity, refusing to accept her as the Mother of all mankind
4 – Those who implant in children’s hearts, indifference, contempt and even hate against this Immaculate Mother
5 – Insults directed against her sacred images – ridicule and the infliction of damage to them.
The Promise
Our Lady promised to assist all those who will practice the devotion of the first Saturday on five consecutive months with the graces necessary for salvation at the hour of their death.
THE HOLY PROMISES OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY TO CHRISTIANS WHO RECITE THE MOST HOLY ROSARY
(1) Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces.
(2) I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.
(3) The rosary will be a powerful armor against Hell; it will destroy vice, decrease sin and defeat heresies.
(4) It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
(5) The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary, shall not perish.
(6) Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune.
(7) God will not chastise him in His Justice, he will not perish by an un-provided death; if he be just, he will remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
(8) Whoever will have a true devotion for the Rosary will not die without the sacraments of the Church.
(9) Those who are faithful to recite the rosary will have during their life and at the moment of death the light of God and the plenitude of His Graces; at the moment of death they will participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.
(10) I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
(11) The faithful children of the rosary will merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
(12) You will obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
(13) All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
(14) I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary will have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.
(15) All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son Jesus Christ.
(16) The devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

(2) Say the “Our Father”
(3) Say three “Hail Marys” for Faith, Hope, and Charity
(4) Say the “Glory Be”

(9) Say the closing prayer: The “Hail Holy Queen” (Salve Regina):
“Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy: our life, our sweetness and our hope. To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to Thee do we send up our sights, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, Most Gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of Mercy towards us, and after this our exile show unto us the Blessed Fruit of thy womb Jesus. O Clement! O Loving! O Sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.”
(9) Make the “Sign of the Cross”
